Press Secretary Jay Carney said Thursday the White House expects Congress to deal with the debt ceiling as part of an end-of year deal “without delay and without drama.”

He also addressed the White House’s efforts in Hurricane Sandy recovery. Earlier Thursday, President Obama held a meeting with New Jersey Governor Chris Christie on relief efforts. Spokesman Carney said the White House is “hopeful” to submit a spending request to Congress by the end of the week.
