Senate Armed Services Holds Military Confirmation Hearing

The Senate Armed Services Committee holds a confirmation hearing on pending military nominations.

Army Gen. Lloyd Austin III is nominated for reappointment to the grade of general and to be commander of U.S. Central Command. Army Gen. David Rodriguez is nominated for reappointment to the grade of general and to be commander of U.S. Africa Command.

Questions focused on Afghanistan, Syria, Benghazi, Mali, Iran, Egypt and Iraq, as well as sequestration.

Sen. Carl Levin (D-MI) chaired the committee.
