In this program, we look at the guerrilla attack known as the Lawrence Massacre, which took place in August 1863 on a pro-Union town in Kansas. Tony Mullis examines the raid led by William Quantrill, as well as the years of warfare along the Kansas–Missouri border. Mr. Mullis is a military history professor at the U.S. Army Command & General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth. The Kansas City Public Library hosted this event.
