Lawmakers Examine Airport Perimeter Security

In response to enhanced security measures by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) in recent months, Congress continues to review measures to improve airport security. 

The House Oversight and Government Reform subcommittee held a hearing this morning on airport perimeter security. The hearing continues the work of the subcommittee to review TSA and its efforts to secure airports from internal and external threats.

Issues such as baggage inspections, terminal safety and enhanced passenger screening techniques were discussed by the subcommittee.

Witnesses at the hearing included John Sammon, TSA Assistant Administrator, Stephen Lord, Director, Homeland Security and Justice Issues, U.S. Government Accountability Office; Rafi Ron, President, New Age Security Solutions; Jerry Orr, Airport Director and Operator, Charlotte International Airport; and William Parker, Inspector, K-9 Unit, Amtrak Police Department.
