Gov. Haley (R-SC): Rep. Scott Will Replace Sen. DeMint

South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley (R) held a news conference to announce that Rep. Tim Scott (R-SC) will replace Senator Jim DeMint (R-SC) when he retires in January.

Rep. Scott will become the seventh African American Senator in U.S. history. He will be up for re-election in 2014. Sen. DeMint is leaving the Senate on January 1 to become President of the Heritage Foundation in Washington.
