Experts Discuss Lessons Learned from Campaign 2012

Experts discuss “Campaigns and Legislation: Applying Lessons from the 2012 Campaign Cycle to the 113th Congress” at the Georgetown University Law Center on Friday.

The first panel titled, "The Campaign Operatives” talks about the campaign strategies, tools and technologies they’ve used while working for their organizations and how they apply lessons learned from the campaign cycle to the 113th Congress.

Particpants include: Anne Caprara, deputy political director of the Democratic Senate Campaign Committee; Marlon Marshall, deputy national field director of Obama for America; John Rogers, deputy political director of the National Republican Campaign Committee; and Andy Stone, communications director of the The House Majority PAC.

A second panel titled, "The Interest Groups” discusses how the groups will alter their lobbying, legislation and political strategies based on lessons learned in Campaign 2012.

Dakota Rudesill, visiting professor and interim director of the Federal Legislation and Administrative Clinic at Georgetown Law, moderates both panels.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Minority Whip Steny Hoyer (D-MD) held a press conference urging House Republicans to take up the Violence Against Women Act.  The bill passed recently in the U.S. Senate  by a vote of 78 to 22.

Senate Leaders Attend Weekly Policy Lunches

Members of the Senate Republican and Democratic leadership spoke to reporters following the weekly the Senate party caucus meetings.  Recently, the Senate Foreign Relations committee approved the nomination of Senator John Kerry to be Secretary of State. The full Senate is expected to hold the confirmation vote on Kerry’s nomination later this afternoon.
