On September 26th 1960, presidential candidates Senator John F. Kennedy and Vice President Richard M. Nixon participated in the first-ever televised presidential candidates’ debate. Several people who were directly involved, including Don Hewitt, Howard K. Smith, Ted Sorensen and Herbert Klein, describe the historic debate. This discussion was held in the same location, Studio 1 of WBBM TV-Chicago, as the Kennedy-Nixon debate.
